I’d like to become a wedding videographer but have no idea how to set up or where to start – any suggestions?

Look to see if one in the area is hiring first and work with him/her to learn what you’ll be doing.
To be successful you’d probably need at least 2-3 expensive video cameras… don’t get the basic stuff most people have at home. You’d then need an editing system. These easily run several thousands of dollars and up. Don’t forget music to dub over the edited tapes.
After that, you’d need to advertise and know HOW to shoot a good video. I used to do tv work and did a few weddings in New Orleans. As the videographer I’d have to be at the church, tape the couple coming out and into the limo and then break every known law to get to the reception. It was especially hard when the wedding party had police escorts and I didn’t.
It’s a lot of work.

Seriously, do whatever it takes to get work. Talk to friends, family, co workers. Do jobs for free. The main thing is to just do good work. Once you get started, the rest will take care of itself.
